Tennis

One of the traditional games that still epitomises the history of the school.

An individual sport that has a team element, Selborne remains a proud tennis school. Weekly matches take place against local opposition during the first term whilst Friday derbies against traditional rivals like Grey remain a highlight. In the third term, Selborne participates with its sister school, Clarendon, in a mixed league.

Our tennis teams participate in 2 festivals. The first is at Grey Junior whilst the annual Cradock tennis tournament remains a highlight for many schools. At these festivals, the opportunity exists for our players to test themselves against some of the best tennis players from around the country. Over the years, Selborne has produced many top tennis players that have played nationally. These includes Grant Ive, Siphos Montsi, Nicholai Hensburg and Joseph Townes.
